I was diagnosed with peri-menopause at the age of 33 - last year.

At being diagnosed at that age, it was a huge blow to my self-esteem, especially after having a year and a half before and wanting to try again... and I've been married for only 4 1/2 years.

No one in my family has been through this - well my mother did but she didn't know what it was at the time and she had already had my brother and I - and of course I have support but no one really understands.

My sex drive has drastically diminished and I need help!

After bottling in my emotions for a year, I finally broke down... and thankfully I have such a supportive husband.

Just looking for information and a support group for this...

I look forward to the support.

You are in my prayers. God bless you and give you all the happiness. Have faith and take care of yourself.

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I can't imagine how frustrating it is. Several years ago, my mother's friend had already been going through menopause for quite some time. She assumed at that stage in her life pregnancy was a non issue. She ended up having a little boy a few years later!

I am 36 and currently going for testing because I suspect I am peri-menopausal as well. I am married with no children (by choice), however, I hate to think that the option may be taken away from me at such an early age. My sex drive is basically non existent and it's terrible. What other symptoms have you experienced?

Hope you are ok and taking care of yourself.

Blessings.

Thank you for your comment.
I am also sorry that you believe that you are going through this at such a young age too.

I had so many of the same symptoms that you get with regular menopause... the hot flashes, the fluctuation in weight, the change in attitude.

I have been very blessed to have such a supportive husband that has helped me research herbal supplements that I can take to help me along the way.
If you are interested, I can give you the list of all the different supplements that I am taking... but I am taking a lot of them for the assistance of getting pregnant because of my hormones being all out of whack.

In regards to your sex drive... I tip my virtual hat to you in recognizing that your drive is basically non-existent. It is blow to you because you never think that this could happen... I know that I didn't think so.
I have friends that are older than me that their drive is still in over-drive and here I have to force myself to think about it.

And yes... you will HAVE to force yourself to think about sex.
You will HAVE to force yourself to have sex.
And no... not in a bad way... you just have be more conscious of the desire, unlike before when it was probably already there.
Because of the hormone being so low, you have to sexually stimulate yourself in order to get the desire.

I am taking a herbal supplement that helps a little - I've just starting taking it - and I am hoping that it starts to help me.
I am taking something called HOT PLANTS for HER... I purchased it at the Vitamin Shoppe.
This dietary supplement helps to support healthy sexual drive, function and pleasure in women.
Hopefully you can find something that will work for you.

I don't know you personally, so don't take this the wrong way, but please don't become a prude about sex.
I say this because I did... and now I have to force myself to think about sex in a whole different way in order to keep myself interested.

I also noticed that the more that I exercise, the better I feel about myself. Self-esteem is a huge factor in the diminish of the sex drive also. If you aren't sexy to yourself, you aren't going to feel sexy to anyone else. And getting those good endorphines running around your blood is a great way to increase your sex drive.

Good luck... and I hope that you are able to get the test results back soon.
God bless!

Thank you for sharing all of that. I am going to check out Hot Plants next time I get to the store. What other herbs are you taking? I've done some research on the internet but would like to know your personal experience.

I do exercise regularly. Last year I had to have back surgery and wasn't able to do much of anything for quite a while. I also had gone off the pill which I was on to control my periods for 18 years. Now, I'm getting it for almost 3 weeks some months and it's very frustrating. So in addition to having an already diminished sex drive, I'm dealing with that too. Trying not to be a prude - you are so right about that!!

Thank you again and I hope the supplements do the trick for you!

The other herbs that I have been taking are:
Ginger Root (A Calming Digestive Herb)
Shatavari (Hormonal Balance)
PhytoEstrogen Complex (with Black cohosh, Dong Quai, Wild Yam and Non-GMO Soy)
5-Hydroxytryptophan with Vitamin B6 (Supports Positive Mood)
Nature's Answer Female Complex (Promotes Hormonal Balance)

The Shatavari, this one is the herbal supplement that will help with the imbalance that both my husband and I both found.

Hopefully you will find a combination of herbs that will help you... I have found that this combination of supplements has helped me quite a bit.

You will find the majority of the research states that Black Cohosh, Dong Quai and Shatavari are a good combination that works on hot flashes and the mood swings.

Keep me posted on how you are doing and if you start taking any herbal supplements!

Have a great day!

My last regular period was back in December of 2012... I haven't had one since.
My fertility specialist is advising me that I might not be able to have a child on my own accord, since my FSH levels have continued to increase with every passing month.

I am hoping and praying that I will be able to decrease my FSH levels in order to have a period again. My level is currently at 40.

If you are in need of some great reading material, after you get your results from your tests and it comes back that you are in the early stages of perimenopause, these books have been great for support:

Inconceivable: A Woman's Triumph over Despair and Statistics (by Julia Indichova)

Fully Fertile: A Holistic 12-week Plan for Optimal Fertility (by Jeanie Lee Bussell & Tami Quinn)

Both books give great advise if you are trying to get pregnant and are having problems.

Also, these websites are also great:

Good luck!
