Starting perimenopause

Posted in Group:

Hello everyone. I am happy I found this site. I am 41 yrs old and and just starting perimenopause. The regular predictable periods that I've had for 25 years are now wacky and totally unpredictable. I did see my Gyn, and he confirmed that I am starting the "Change." This is very bittersweet for me due to the fact that I was diagnosed with poor egg quality in my 30s, and never conceived a child. I look forward to talking with the other ladies on this site, and getting more information and support.

Hi TK!
Welcome to the support groups! I usually post in the Hodgkins Lymphoma group but I saw that no one had responded to your post yet and I'm at the end of perimenopause - almost done!

I had my last period last April - they had been sporadic for a couple years prior to that - so I'm hoping this is it. I'm 54 and think I must have been going thru peri for about 6 years. Don't let that scare you though. I remarried 9 years ago and it was a rough go with the step family arrangement so that could have made my moods worse.

Are you experiencing any other changes you think are related to peri? Changes in mood, energy, libido, ability to concentrate, etc. Every woman is different and can have a different combinations of symptoms or none at all! I read a lot of books about the phase and the options of medications, hormones, etc. to help ease the symptoms. They really helped me understand better what was going on with my body and why it felt like I was going crazy sometimes! I'm really feeling more settled emotionally and less moody now as I get to the end of peri and fully into menopause.

Good luck!
Mary
